THE MORNING AFTER: The 2014 Grammy Awards

January 26 2014 – April Clark

The loudest night during award season is undeniably, the Grammy Awards and the most creative and funky red carpet happens when musics' finest step out in their frocks put to music.  Traditionally the Grammy red carpet has been the more experimental red carpet.  Artist tend to dress up their casual attire and walk the red carpet.  For the past few years we've seen the red carpet mature.  Longer gowns replace pasties on breast, and tuxedos replace baseball jerseys and fitted caps.  The Grammy awards are beginning to feature couture gowns and Oscar-worthy styling.  Here are my top picks and trends from last night.  PICTURES: HUFFINGTON POST STYLE

BEST DRESSED COUPLES:

Jay Z and Beyonce
Best Dressed Couple
John Legend and Chrissy Tigen

WHITE CUT OUT on the RED CARPET:

Beyonce IN Michael Costello
BEST DRESSED
Maybe you remember Michael Costello from Season 8 of Project Runway and Season 1 of the PW All Stars, well he was shunned by fellow designers because he could not sew as well as they did.  He was ridiculed and mock...BUT look at him now! Dressing some of the BEST DRESSED women on the red carpet and NOW on Beyonce! Who is laughing now.  We love Michael Costello!
Paris Hilton
Not my favorite but her hair and makeup were flawless!
Iffy Azalea in Elle Saab
Subtle cut-outs and perfectly styled. Love the rock goddess look on her!

Menswear for Women & Hats on the Red Carpet:

Yoko Ono
Madonna in Ralph Lauren Tuxedo
She took it back to the 90s! I am a fan of women in tuxedos as long as it looks tailored and feminine. Who wants to dress like a man?
Pharrell Williams in Vivienne Westwood's Mountian Hat
On their Instagram, they had the nerve to tell us where to get it:
"This hat is available exclusively through our World's End boutique on Kings's Road in London. To order call +44 (0) 207 352 6551 or email worldsend@viviennewestwood.com "
WOW!

RED ON THE RED CARPET:

Miranda Lambert
Colbie Callait in Ezra Couture
Tamar Braxton in Michael Costello

METALLICS ON THE RED CARPET:

Taylor Swift in Gucci
BEST DRESSED RUNNER UP
Rita Ora in Lanvin
BEST DRESSED NOMINEE
Amber Rose in Naeem Khan
Chrissy Tigen in Johanna Johnson
BEST DRESSED NOMINEE

Alicia  Keys in Armani Prive

AGE APPROPRIATE FOR YOUNG HOLLYWOOD:

Zendaya Coleman in Emanuel Ungaro

This is fun for the Grammy's and it's age appropriate. I like this look on Zendaya.

Ariana Grande in Dolce and Gabana

Sweet and appropriate! Not sure about the stockings.

Sarah Hyland in Emilio Pucci

This is cool and hip for the Grammy's she looks young and fresh and age appropriate!
