Fashion Friday- Mercedes Benz Fashion Week - Day One Wrap Up

September 6, 2013 – April Bush

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Day One was amazing! I have a few favorites to report on BCBGMAXAZRIA,and Marissa Webb. From boho chic to ultra feline and edgy these Spring 2014 too it to another level in terms of creativity in shapes and reinvention. Trends that were seen before like the hi-low hem were re-imagained in new silhouettes at the Nicholas K collection entitled APACHE. Tadashi showed amazing ultra feminine gowns that will show up during award season! BGBGMAXAZRIA pushed the limit again with ultra modern silhouettes and Marissa Webb dressed the downtown girl with uptown edge. I am excited to see more! Here are my two favorites from yesterday.
BCBGMAXAZRIA
This collection was inspired by nature and modern art. Lots of sheer panels, cutouts, and cropped tops. The shapes were ultra modern with asymetrical hems. Lots of skin celebrating nature and the art of the human body it's sexy and feminine at the same time.  The reinvention of the floral pattern is genius.  Mixing patterns, floral on top of floral is amazing!  Lots of vivid colors inspired by modern art and muted colors inspired by nature.
Marissa Webb
This collection was another one of my favorites yesterday! Not only is this girl me but the juxtaposition of the feminine and masculine is divine!  Leather in the spring is always right when done in shorter hem lengths and I love how Marissa used leather in the accents.  This girl is a uptown girl with downtown edge and it's refreshing. She's cool and sophisticated at the same time.  I  love the idea of little leather ties! I have been doing that for years and I love that look! The corsets on the outside of th oxford shirts are edgy and preppy paired with a skinny tie it's fashion forward and hip!
Loved both of these collections and it's inspiration for my spring 2014 cosmetics and nail collection.
