Werk it Wednesday June 26

June 26 2013 – April Bush

It's Werk it Wednesday! If you have not been following my blog you have been missing out on hot summer looks for less.  On Wednesdays I find an expensive designer look and show my readers how to get that look for less! Today I am going to show you how to coordinate mixed patterns and then give you a look for less using the same method.

First tip: HOW TO MIX PATTERNS--

1. BE TONAL- When you are venturing in mixing patterns make sure your patterns are in the same color family.  For instance:

In this mix both of the prints are in the blue family.  Make sure the different shades compliment each other otherwise you will end up looking like you don't know what you are doing.  The idea is to look like a hip fashion-forward fashionista with depth in her closet!

2. SCALE- Make sure your prints are on the same scale.  Your patterns are medium to small. If the print is larger you run the risk of missing the mark.  Look at this look:

She looks cool and fashion-forward!

3. NEUTRALIZE- Patterns with a neutral base make for a structured look.  When you use patterns with black, white, or brown as the base color it makes it easy to accessorize with color or visa versa if your prints are based in color then make sure your accessories are neutral.

Take a look at this designer look! I absolutely love this look and would wear it from head to toe!
